Piney People

There are so many people from the NJ Pine Barrens with so many stories that go untold. It’s so important to document these stories as part of history and also so that more people learn what life was like here in years past. If you’re someone who grew up in the Pine Barrens, or perhaps just spent time here on vacation in years past, please feel free to comment with your story, whether it’s short  or long.  You don’t need to use your name, but it would be nice if you would like to share who you are.  In this way, others may be inclined to contribute towards your story or add their own.  Please keep your stories G-rated!

If you’d rather send your story to me to post, I’ll be happy to do so. Just send it to

One Response to “Piney People”

  1. Hi Cathy,
Bob Birdsall and I have developed a project through the Barnegat Bay Partnership. It is called “Streaming the creeks and rivers in the Barnegat Bay Watershed” We are available to give 1/12 to 2 hour presentations (with Bob’s excellent photos) to groups. We follow the 20 streams from their headwaters to the bay. Each of the 180+ locations we visited are marked on the slides with gps locations..
We can also lead 2 County Park van tours for groups of up to 12. They can contact me at to schedule. The programs are free, and we will have a limited # of presentations and tours.
    Best regards,
    Terry O’Leary
